GFCI Outlets
GFCI, or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter Outlets are usually found in Kitchens and Bathrooms where they can protect your home’s electrical system from surges caused by wet conditions. Each GFCI outlet contains a reset and test button. At the moment a GFCI outlet detects a spike in current or potential overload, it trips itself cutting off the current. You should test your GFCI outlets at least once a month by pressing the test button. If the power does not turn off, you may need a replacement.
Tamper-proof Outlets
Every parent knows the danger of an open outlet. While there are options available such as plug covers, the best way to keep your kids safe is through the installation of tamper-proof outlets. They’re affordable and can easily be installed by a licensed electrician.
USB Outlets
These are regular outlets (also available as tamper-proof) that contain an additional 2 USB (Type-A) plugs allowing you to conveniently charge your smartphone or tablet anywhere the outlets are installed.
